ST. GEORGE, Utah – + Video – The theme for The Utah Association of Counties 2016 Annual Convention in St. George is “Serving Counties with Honor.” The keynote speaker, Air Force pilot Scott O’Grady, spoke to the state’s county leaders about always striving to represent their constituents with an attitude of service and honor, just like in the military. The convention is in it’s 92nd year of unifying the voice for county governments in Utah.

With the changing of political leaders in Washington D.C., counties are looking for support in their efforts to secure public lands for public use and management.

The convention began Wednesday and continues through Friday evening with an awards banquet and entertainment.

The meetings give the county representatives a chance to learn what other Utah county leaders are doing to address various issues as they arrive. It also gives them a chance to organize for the upcoming legislative session.
