We've been lucky in Utah to have a State Director of the BLM who has genuinely tried to make public lands work better in the state. For those of us who have had the pleasure of working with Juan Palma, it is sad to see him retire.

We were lucky enough to catch up with Juan Palma one last time to get his perspective of a number of important issues currently taking place on public lands in Utah. Chad Booth spoke with the director about the challenge of controlling wild horse populations; developing natural resources; the future of public lands; and some insights for the next state director.
