Last week I had the opportunity to participate in Rural Legislative Day up at the Capitol. It is always interesting to hear about how great the State of Utah is doing across the board. It is also interesting to learn about the challenges that we still face.

Governor Gary Herbert was quick to point out that just because the state is doing very well this is no time to let off the throttle. There are still a number of challenges for education, transportation, medicaid expansion, and the impact that decisions in Washington has on this state.

I hope you were able to participate in Rural Legislative Day and would suggest that you make plans to attend next year.

While we were at the Capitol last week we were able to catch up with representatives from the Utah Association of Counties for a quick update on what is taking place up at the legislature this session.

Adam Trupp, Commissioner Kerry Gibson, and Mark Ward; joined us in the Capitol Boardroom for a quick look at the status of transportation funding, criminal justice and public lands.
