Have you ever been away from home and wondered, what would I do if there was an Emergency?

This thought crossed my mind a while back when I was setting up to tape an interview. Right as I was turned on the lights an alarm began going off and all these people began filling the falls with red backpack in their hands.

At first I was worried that I had triggered the alarm, but concluded it probably wasn't me ( I hadn't been there long enough to get in trouble).

I decided I better follow the people out of the building in case it was a real emergency. Once I got outside I ran into the person I was looking for and we returned and shot the interview when we were told it was all clear.

Yesterday there was a similar drill that took place known as the Great Utah Shake Out (Not t to be confused with April 15th aka "The Great Shake Down").  The Shake Out was really great this year because nearly 1 Million Utahns signed up to participate. If you are not familiar with the Shake Out you can check out this link. http://shakeout.org/utah/

This weekend on the County Seat we will bring you some coverage from the Shake Out along with some great tips to get you started with your own emergency planning. Be Ready Utah is a great resource to get more info. Chad Booth will talk to emergency managers from around the state about what takes place behind the scenes of a disaster. How do all the different agencies coordinate to get resources where they need to be?
