ST. GEORGE, Utah - + Video – Legislators from the Southern Utah shared their thoughts on issues that will be addressed in the upcoming legislative session.

Senator Don Ipson, Representatives V. Lowry Snow, Jon Stanard, Brad Last and newly elected Walt Brooks joined in a panel discussion Thursday morning. The five lawmakers were invited to the “Issues over Eggs” public meeting sponsored by the St. George Chamber of Commerce.

Legislators agreed that the most controversial topic this year will be on medical marijuana. An estimated 1,200 bills were filed for the 2017 session. The majority of those bills deal with the funding of education.

The Legislators are keeping an eye on what was termed by fiscal analysts as “big rocks," including growth and the need for more funding in order to keep up with it.
