ST. GEORGE, Utah - + Video – It’s an organization that’s been around for 149 years. The Elks (B.P.O.E.) supports humanitarian issues in the United States and even Guam and Puerto Rico.

The National President of the Elks, known as the Grand Exalted Ruler, is in St. George for a three day state conference. President Michael Zellen of Massachusetts toured the Millcreek High School Thursday morning where he witnessed incredible support by the local St. George Dixie Elks Lodge for economically disadvantaged students.

The small alternative high school plays a unique crucial role assisting many students living in poverty and some who are homeless.

Nationally, the Elks provide about $300 million in support through grants, donation and volunteer time.
