ST. GEORGE, Utah - + Video – Patrons nationwide turned out in cold weather Saturday to decorate and honor the graves of veterans who have passed. The national Wreaths Across America Day allowed the placement of 1.2 remembrance wreaths at 1,228 cemeteries across the country in 2016. The movement is growing in the St. George area each year, with about 100 more graves to cover than years past.

Thanks to donations from the local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and others, the program is expanding. Currently the December tradition has enough wreaths for veteran’s graves in Tonaquint and Shivwits cemeteries. The goal is to eventually cover veteran’s graves in the St. George Cemetery in the near future.
