Musical Moments with Bailee

As a pianist, Bailee Bloomquist strives to play every piece with great passion, making every piece as beautiful and expressive as she can. Bailee has performed at venues such as Libby Gardener Hall, Steinway Hall, and various churches. Bailee won 2nd place at the International Piano Festival held by the University of Utah, and has also placed 2nd in the University of Utah’s Summer Arts concerto competition, and was awarded the opportunity to perform with a full orchestra. Bailee has also participated in the UFMC Federation of Music Festival 8 times and performed in the Best of Federation Recital 4 of those times, and was nominated every time.

Bailee is very passionate about playing music from all different time periods, but works by Chopin hold a special place in her heart. She is also very interested in playing composers such as Liszt, Rachmaninoff, and most recently Maurice Ravel. She has also collaborated with the University of Utah New Music Ensemble, where she performed Bill Ryan's "Blurred".

Bailee started playing the piano when she was 7 years old and always loved it, but she never had classical training. She had always thought about how amazing it would be to be a Concert Pianist someday, but she didn't believe she had what it takes. It wasn't until her senior year of High School that she decided she wanted to devote her life to playing the piano. She started taking lesson from the critically acclaimed pianist, Josh Wright, which is when her musical abilities really started to blossom.

Bailee is currently pursuing her Bachelor's Degree in Piano Performance at the University of Utah, where she was awarded a scholarship to attend. She is studying under the renowned chair of the program, Dr. Susan Duehlmeier.
