Founded in 2008, the Dixie Techs group was created to unite and connect the technical community in Southern Utah.
The Dixie Technical Association (Dixie Techs) is a network of technology professionals and entrepreneurs in southern Utah. The Dixie Techs actively encourage idea exploration and implementation, entrepreneurship, job expansion, peer mentorship and education in the technology sector. We create possibilities in southern Utah's knowledge economy.
Dixie Techs Meets
The first Friday of each month to hear intriguing speakers discuss tech and entrepreneurial topics. Originally founded by USTAR (Utah Science, technology and Research) Tech Outreach team and SEED (Stimulating the Expansion of Entrepreneurial Development), the Dixie Techs organization is run by a steering committee of industry representatives. Meetings are free of charge and include a pizza lunch sponsored by community businesses and Dixie State University.
New members and guests are always welcome at Dixie Techs meetings. A Linked In group promotes connection opportunities and notifies members of the next meetings. Those wishing to be added to the Dixie Techs mail list may sign up at www.dixiebrc.com.
The Dixie Techs also founded
Southern Utah Code Camp (www.southernutahcodecamp.com) held in November at Dixie State University. Code Camp is a 24-hour programming, design and entrepreneurship contest where teams compete against other teams to build the best web or mobile app. The sponsor-funded event is free to all participants and features three divisions:
Industry teams who compete to develop company ideas claim bragging rights
Collegiate teams who want to impress potential employers
Novice teams who are exploring the industry and learning new techniques
